MPOB to host open day in conjunction with 25th anniversary

BANDAR BARU BANGI, 26 July 2025 – The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) will be organising an Open Day in conjunction with the celebration of its 25th anniversary. This event will be held simultaneously on 2 August 2025 at MPOB Headquarters in Bangi, as well as in seven locations, including MPOB Research Stations in Kluang, Keratong, Bagan Datuk, Hulu Paka, Lahad Datu, Sessang and the MPOB Sabah Regional Office in Kota Kinabalu.

MPOB Open Dayaims to raise public awareness of the latest advancement in the oil palm industry, including achievements in research, innovation, services, and MPOB’s success throughout its 25 years of establishment.

The MPOB Open Day targets participation from all segments of society with a wide range of engaging activities, including MPOB innovation exhibitions, health checks, sports, games, and lucky draws.

A host of exciting activities will be held in celebration of this milestone, including the Sawit Run, MPOB Race, Treasure Hunt, Cooking Competition, Colouring and Cupcake Decorating Contest, and Creative Video Competition. MPOB will also launch a recipe book entitled “Sawit Dalam Sajian: Legasi Rasa Malaysia” (Oil Palm in Dishes: Malaysia’s Culinary Legacy), featuring a variety of dishes based on palm oil. These activities will involve participation from various segments of the public, reflecting inclusiveness and synergistic cooperation in elevating the national oil palm industry.

MPOB Director General, Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Hj Ghulam Kadir, said that the silver jubilee celebration not only marks the 25th year since its establishment, but also symbolises its maturity, notable achievements, and continued success. These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication, commitment, and hard work of all MPOB workforce. This success clearly reflects MPOB’s determination in ensuring the sustainability, competitiveness, and progress of Malaysia’s oil palm industry both nationally and globally.

MPOB Open Day is themed “Oil Palm for All,” reflects an inclusive and sustainable oil palm ecosystem that contributes to the country’s economic growth. This theme also emphasises that the oil palm industry is relevant to all levels of society, regardless of age, background, or social status, demonstrating that its benefits can be enjoyed by all Malaysians.

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is a leading government agency under the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) entrusted with the role and responsibilities of serving the country’s oil palm industry. It was incorporated by the Act of Parliament (Act 582) and formed on 1 May 2000., taking over functions of the Palm Oil Research and Development Board/Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia (PORDB/PORIM) and Palm Oil Registration and Licensing Authority (PORLA). Each organisation has served the oil palm industry for more than twenty years and MPOB was founded for the purpose of providing more effective service and giving greater national and international focus to the industry.
