MPOB Open Day Brings Communities Closer to the Nation\u2019s Leading Agri-Commodity Sector<\/b><\/p>

BANDAR BARU BANGI, 2 August 2025<\/b> \u2013 The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) organised the MPOB Open Day in conjunction with its 25th anniversary celebration to raise public awareness on the latest developments, research activities, innovations, and services provided by the agency.<\/span><\/p>

The MPOB Open Day was held simultaneously in Bangi and seven other locations, involving MPOB Research Stations in Kluang, Keratong, Bagan Datuk, Hulu Paka, Lahad Datu and Sessang, as well as the MPOB Sabah Regional Office in Kota Kinabalu.<\/span><\/p>

Among the activities organised were <\/span>Sawit Run<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>MPOB Race<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Treasure Hunt<\/span><\/i>, Cooking Competition, Colouring and Cupcake Decorating Contest, and the Creative Video Competition. Also held was the launch of the recipe book entitled <\/span>‘Sawit Dalam Sajian: Legasi Rasa Malaysia’<\/span><\/i>, which features dishes based on oil palm ingredients. All these activities involved the participation of various segments of society and collaboration from MPOB\u2019s strategic partner organisations, reflecting the spirit of inclusivity and synergy in elevating Malaysia\u2019s oil palm industry.<\/span><\/p>

Held simultaneously for the first time nationwide, the <\/span>Sawit Run<\/span><\/i> successfully attracted more than 3,000 participants. Meanwhile, the <\/span>Treasure Hunt<\/span><\/i> event, which gathered over 200 participants from strategic partners and media representatives, highlighted the close ties and steadfast support for MPOB since its establishment.<\/span><\/p>

As part of the patriotic segment of the programme, the 2025 MPOB Jalur Gemilang Handing-Over Ceremony and the symbolic launch of the National Month were also held to foster patriotic spirit among MPOB staff and attending visitors.<\/span><\/p>

All activities organised played an important role in enhancing the public\u2019s knowledge and understanding of the national oil palm industry more comprehensively, covering aspects of research, innovation, and its contributions to the country\u2019s socioeconomic development.<\/span><\/p>

Since its establishment on 1 May 2000, MPOB has played a pivotal role in spearheading the development of the industry through research, technology development and innovation activities to elevate the oil palm sector to greater heights.<\/span><\/p>

During his address at the MPOB Open Day at MPOB Headquarters, its Director-General, Datuk Dr Ahmad Parveez Hj Ghulam Kadir, said that MPOB will continue to ensure the national oil palm industry remains relevant and competitive to become more advanced, productive, and sustainable.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cToday, we also launched the recipe book <\/span>‘Sawit Dalam Sajian: Legasi Rasa Malaysia’<\/span><\/i>, which compiles selected nutritious palm-based recipes and their applications in daily cooking.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

MPOB also plays a regulatory role in the oil palm industry through its functions as a licensing and enforcement body, in addition to working closely with independent smallholders through extension activities and support services under the guidance of Oil Palm Extension Advisory Services (TUNAS) officers nationwide.<\/span><\/p>

MPOB urges all Malaysians to unite in supporting the national oil palm industry, which is not only a key agri-commodity contributing to the country\u2019s economic income, but also a primary source and component in various high-quality, safe, and sustainable food and non-food products.
