MPOB\u2019s creative video competition uncovers talent, embeds informative approach<\/b><\/p>

BANDAR BARU BANGI, 2 August 2025<\/b> \u2013 The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) organised its Open Day in conjunction with its 25<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary at the MPOB Headquarters in Bangi, featuring various activities such as Sawit Run, MPOB Race, Treasure Hunt, Cooking Competition, Colouring and Cupcake Decorating Competition, Creative Video Competition, and the launch of the Palm-Based Recipe Compilation Book. The event involved participation from all walks of life as well as strategic partner organisations of MPOB.<\/span><\/p>

With the theme \u201cOil Palm Industry in Driving National Prosperity\u201d, MPOB\u2019s Creative Video Competition in celebration of its 25<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary successfully attracted over 30 participants nationwide, ranging in age from 15 to 50 years old.<\/span><\/p>

During the MPOB Open Day, MPOB Director-General Datuk Dr. Ahmad Parveez Hj. Ghulam Kadir announced three winners, five consolation prizes, and one special jury recognition, selected by a panel of judges from MPOB and the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK). The champion, runner-up, and third-place winners took home RM5,000, RM2,500, and RM1,500 respectively, while consolation prize winners received RM250 each as a token of appreciation.<\/span><\/p>

The winner, Danny Ko Chern Ming, adopted a documentary-style video highlighting the achievements of the oil palm industry including its economic contributions, sustainability, and MPOB\u2019s role in the national oil palm ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>

Mohd Zulhafin Che Noh, the first runner-up, utilised an engaging storytelling approach familiar to the general public, focusing on the upstream and downstream sectors, smallholders’ economic contribution, and the key roles of MPOB officers under the TUNAS advisory service.<\/span><\/p>

In third place, Muhd Redzuan Muhammad from Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Miri, Sarawak, featured an educational video aimed at schoolchildren to raise awareness on the importance of the national oil palm industry and its sustainability for ensuring the wellbeing of future generations.

<\/span>In addition, Zariwan Iqmar Zainol Abidin received the Jury\u2019s Special Recognition Award for his video which presented a unique youth perspective, representing the voice of future generations from Sekolah Menengah Sains Kuala Selangor.

<\/span>The submitted videos featured various creative and informative approaches, discussing the progress and achievements of Malaysia\u2019s oil palm industry in terms of sustainability, research, development and innovation, and its contributions to the national economy.<\/span><\/p>

Participants were free to express their creativity through different genres such as storytelling, drama, animation, and documentary, reflecting the industry’s role as a backbone of Malaysia\u2019s agro-commodity-based economy and MPOB\u2019s role as the driving force in R&D, technology commercialisation, smallholder sustainability, licensing, and enforcement.<\/span><\/p>
