Biological Control of Bagworms Using
Leguminous Cover Crops

MPOB Cassia cobanensis SEED

Cassia cobanensis is a nectar-producing plant which attracts most bagworm parasitoids. A field study showed that parasitism level of bagworm was higher in areas planted with C. cobanensis compared to other beneficial plants like Euphorbia heterophylla, Crotalaria usaramoensis and Antigonon leptopus. This indicates the importance of C. cobanensis in conserving the natural enemies of the bagworm.
